About the company

We're a shared AI co-pilot for child development - built to support the parents, carers, and clinicians navigating complex health journeys with kids who don't fit the mould.

We take messy, unstructured real-life data and turn it into a structured, living record of a child - one that can be visualised, shared, and actioned by everyone in their world. From that single source of truth, our product generates custom artefacts and communication tools tailored to each part of the care team: educators, therapists, doctors, support workers. This unlocks clarity, coordination, and earlier intervention.

At the same time, we're building our product as a true companion for parents - helping reduce the mental load, support emotional wellbeing, and remind them they're not in this alone.

We're a lean, fast-moving team based in Melbourne & Sydney, building hand-in-hand with the families and clinicians we serve. Our culture is high-trust, low-ego, and unapologetically mission-led. We hire people who care - about impact, pace, and doing their best work in an environment that values initiative, inclusion, and humanity.

We're not building a typical startup team. We're building one that feels like our product: diverse, kind, emotionally intelligent, and bold enough to redesign the system, not just digitise it.

Diversity + inclusion

Voluntary Self-Identification

At our company, we're building a team that reflects the families we serve: diverse in background, identity, and lived experience. Part of that commitment means making sure our hiring process is fair and inclusive.

✨ Our promise: Our company is unapologetically mission-led. We believe the same diversity that makes every child unique is what makes our team stronger. Sharing your identity is always your choice.

This is a full-time role — but if 3 or 4 days a week works better for your life, we're open to that.

We care more about finding the right person than strict hours, and we know some of the best talent doesn't always fit a full-time mould. If that's you, apply anyway — we'd love to chat.

We're looking for an amazing Engineer and never want work life balance to be a barrier. If you're an amazing Engineer and need flexibility we're still open to chat. We're built by parents that get it.

About the job

We're looking for a founding AI engineer who can bridge AI research and real-world product building. You might call yourself a data scientist, ML engineer, or AI engineer, what matters is you're excited to experiment with data and models and turn those experiments into scalable, reliable features.

Requirements

What you'll do

  • Be the cornerstone of AI in the founding team, working deeply with our Product Designer to raise the bar on what an AI-native user experience can be. It's not about deploying AI because we can, we need you to co-create seamless, human-centred interactions.
  • Build the backend infrastructure and tooling needed to productionise these models in a safe, compliant, and scalable way.
  • Shape how our product delivers intelligence and trust, from experiments through to deploying the frontier of AI-driven product into parents' and practitioners hands.
  • Prototype and evaluate new AI capabilities, working with messy real-world data from families and clinicians.
  • Set the tone for our engineering culture: balancing exploration with rigour, and speed with safety.
  • In your first month, deliver two big wins:
    • Ship a working AI-backed prototype (on top of our conversational, data-driven experience) that demonstrates value to parents or practitioners.
    • Stand up the foundational pipeline/tooling needed to safely iterate and scale AI features beyond prototypes.

Our stack includes

  • Python, Supabase, React/Next.js, ReactNative
  • Cloud infra (Fly.io, Docker, Postgres)
  • AI tooling (LangGraph, OpenAI API, custom evals)

You may be a good fit if you:

  • Are excited about AI-native applications that challenge how parents navigate developmental journeys for their kids - to enable not replace allied health and paediatric care.
  • Get thrills out of refining your own AI workflows and experimenting with techniques that 10x your building speed and creativity
  • Have deployed frontier AI-native products, custom models and evals.
  • Care about the societal impacts and ethics of your work
  • This is not a "learn on the job" opportunity you're ready to hit the ground running with real skills and shipped work behind you.
  • Show, don't tell: if you've got an AI project that demonstrates your skills, we'll give you space in the interview to showcase it. Don't just say you're awesome. Show us your uniqueness.

Strong candidates may also have experience with:

  • Experience developing for health, education, or family-focused products. Or alternatively, experience in adjacent industries where trust, clarity, and long-term engagement are critical (e.g. fintech, mental health, wellbeing, or government services).
  • Background in Data Science / ML to drive product and experience through insight.
  • Bring deep expertise in AI tooling (TensorFlow, LangChain, etc.) and a habit of staying ahead of the latest model releases.
  • Navigating the dynamics of an early-stage startup: balancing speed with rigour, thriving in ambiguity, and shaping both culture and process.
