About the company

We are an early-stage startup developing a first-of-its-kind digital marketplace for recruiter-qualified, de-identified contingent talent. Our mission is to create fairer, faster, bias-free hiring pathways for candidates, whilst empowering recruiters and employers with instant access to vetted talent.

We are currently in the pre-MVP stage, preparing to build a prototype, pilot the product with major employers, and raise our first investment round.

About the team

It's just me, and then maybe you? I have plenty of advisors, and am well positioned to set great foundations now- you can be part of that- have your voice heard. We have a human centred approach, because we are a business all about people. We hope to be a team of 10 by the end of the year.

About the job

As CTO & Co-Founder, you will be the technical founder responsible for shaping, building, and scaling the entire technology function. You will work closely with the Co-Founder to translate the product vision into a tangible platform and drive all technical execution from prototype to global scale.

This is a hands-on role for someone who wants to build something meaningful, own the technical strategy from day one, and become a long-term partner in a high-growth venture.

Key Responsibilities

1. Technical Strategy & Architecture

Define the technical vision, platform architecture, and long-term technology roadmap. Evaluate frameworks, tools, hosting environments, infrastructure, and integrations. Ensure scalable, secure, privacy-conscious data architecture—including de-identified candidate workflows. Establish early engineering standards, documentation, and technical governance.

2. Prototype & MVP Delivery

Lead the build of a functional prototype for employer and agency validation. Develop or oversee the development of the MVP, ensuring it is reliable, simple, and user-centred. Translate workflows into practical system design that supports a multi-sided marketplace.

3. Product Direction & Discovery

Work with the Co-Founder to map user journeys across recruiters, employers, and candidates. Define feature requirements, sequencing, scope, and early product milestones. Provide technical input into UX/UI planning and platform-wide decision-making.

4. Stakeholder & Investor Engagement

Attend meetings with agencies, employer partners, technology vendors, and advisors. Present technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders. Support the development of investor materials, including technical feasibility, roadmap, cost estimates, and risk frameworks.

5. Building & Leading the Technology Team

Recruit engineers and designers as the company grows. Implement development processes, sprints, infrastructure practices, testing procedures, and release cycles. Oversee long-term technical evolution supporting future scale, automation, and international growth.

Working Relationship & Co-Founder Agreement

You will work closely with the existing Co-Founder in a collaborative, open partnership during the early stages of the venture based on a contribution equity model.

Together, you will: Build the prototype and MVP. Deliver a successful pilot with 2 major hiring employers and 10 agencies. Prepare for and secure the first investment round.

Once the pilot is secured and/or first funding is secured, both Co-Founders will formalise a comprehensive shareholder agreement, including equity structure, roles, responsibilities, governance, and long-term commitments.

Requirements

Must-Have

  • Previous experience as a CTO, Tech Lead, or Senior Engineer in a startup or product environment.
  • Comfort building early-stage prototypes and leading MVP development.
  • Strong architectural decision-making ability across backend, frontend, and cloud platforms.
  • Experience building or scaling multi-sided platforms, SaaS products, or marketplaces.
  • Understanding of data security, privacy, authentication, and scalable systems.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders, including employers and investors.

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience in HRtech, recruitment tech, marketplaces, or talent platforms.
  • Knowledge of ATS/CRM systems (JobAdder, Bullhorn, etc.) or API integrations.
  • Exposure to DEIB initiatives or bias-free technology design.
  • Experience scaling platforms for global or multi-region use.

Personal Traits

  • Entrepreneurial and excited by early-stage ambiguity.
  • Low ego, collaborative, and solutions-focused.
  • Passionate about building purposeful technology with social impact.
  • Comfortable owning decisions and operating with autonomy.
  • Values transparency, fairness, and long-term partnership.
