This is a technical leadership role, taking a business that already works to the next level. We have the product, the paying customers and the momentum. What we need now is a technical leader to help us scale it, fast.
You'll set the technical vision, own the architecture, and build the global engineering team behind it. You're deeply hands-on, writing and shipping the code that matters, and you'll build the strategy for how we build, who we hire, and where we're heading as we grow at pace.
You harness AI to deliver high-quality production code at startup speed. You stay across the latest in AI tooling: models, frameworks, what's worth adopting and what's hype. You use every tool at your disposal to move fast, and the code that ships is clean, tested and built to endure.

• The technical vision and architecture as we scale
• Features end-to-end today, from async API design to UI delivery, and the roadmap that turns them into a platform tomorrow
• The AI agent workflows at the core of the product, and the document pipeline from rich text editing to polished Word and PowerPoint output

The stack includes:
• Backend: Python (async-first), FastAPI, Pydantic, AWS (Lambda, ECS)

Must-haves:
• Strong async Python backend chops (FastAPI, async patterns, clean architecture)
• A track record of shipping and scaling production systems
• You've owned architecture decisions and lived with the consequences
• Comfortable with relational data models (PostgreSQL) and migrations via Alembic / SQLModel / SQLAlchemy
• Comfortable in React on the frontend
• Production experience with AWS
• You thrive in small teams where your work directly shapes the roadmap and trajectory
• You use AI as a force multiplier, not a crutch
• You're energised by how fast the AI landscape is shifting
Bonus points:
• You've been the most senior technical person in the room, the technical voice with customers and investors
• Experience scaling an engineering team or an early-stage startup
• Hands-on with AI agents or orchestration frameworks (Pydantic AI, LangGraph, etc.)
• Document generation pipelines (python-docx, PowerPoint, ProseMirror)
• AWS CDK for infrastructure-as-code
• Observability mindset: structured logging, tracing, instrumentation
